Surfin Newquay-ay!!

"If everybody had an ocean,
Across the U-K-ay
Then everybodyd be surfin
Like Newquay-ay"

Friday evening (8 June 2007) we caught a bus with a heap of friends destination Newquay, Cornwell, UK for our much anticipated Surf Trip. The group (much like our ski trip in March) consisted of Nikki & Paul, Penny & Kris, Kylie & John, Sophie & Andrew, Miriam & Pete, Alex and us.

With Lou still recovering from her mystery virus she spent most of the weekend on the beach watching the antics of others while working on her tan while Rob tried surfing, skim boarding and partook in all beachside activities.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back on the beach!
Sir Robert BradmanWe were all very impressed with Fistral beach opposite the Bay hotel where we were staying. Who would have thought that the UK would have such a nice beach (especially after being to Brighton). Despite having the beaches at our door back home in Oz the surf lessons would be a first for many. To top the weekend off some sensational warm weather! It was with great difficulty we boarded the bus Sunday afternoon for the trip back to London.

Great weekend had by all!

Med Trip (Spain, Portugal, France & Italy)

39 days, 4 countries and a vast number of stories later here we go……hope you enjoy the adventure as much as we did! Here are our top five destinations:

1. Monseraz, Portugal

With its white washed walls, rocky hilltop setting, quiet atmosphere and non-existent tourists the town was a joy to explore.

We had the whole town to ourselves, Monseraz, Portugal
2. Cinque Terre, Italy

The coastline was some of the most spectacular we have ever seen. The five small towns were very appealing and quaint despite the overwhelming number of tourists.

3. Venice, Italy

There is no where in the world like Venice! The city is an absolute joy to explore time and time again!

4. Sintra, Portugal

An abundance of castles, palaces, ruins, gardens and grottos. Sintra was straight out of a fairy tale. Magical!

Palacio de Pena, Sintra, Portugal
5. Sevilla, Spain

Bull fights, flamenco, tapas, moorish palaces and Europe’s biggest cathedral. Sevilla was a beautiful city, a great introduction to Spain with plenty to do!
