Bath & Stonehenge

Last Friday 17th February we spoilt ourselves with a tour to Lacock, Bath & Stonehenge. It was an early morning for us (we were up before Star & Kris) but the weather was fabulous and the day was filled with sight seeing galore.

Obvious highlights included Stonehenge, the Roman Baths at Bath, and Bath itself.

At the Roman Baths we had an opportunity to taste the natural hot water which the springs / baths are famous for - 1 word - YUCK!!!!

Just to also fill you in - Lou started a 2 month contract with a media firm and Rob starts a 6 week contract on Monday. We are still homeless bums but hoping to be in our own place very soon (fingers crossed).

Colin's special request

From our going away party......

Colin requested a special photo edition of himself who got drunk and trusted Rob & Scott to hang him off our balcony by his feet.

1st week in London

We arrived safely in London Sunday 5 February a little later than planned due to Heathrow being closed due to fog. It was a nice little detour to Frankfurt for a few hours though we only got to see the inside of the plane. We are currently staying with Penny & Kris. So far we have:

* Visited the Tate Modern - art museum
* Gone to Greenwich - marks the Prime Meridian which divides the Eastern and Western hemisphere's
* Celebrated Rosie's birthday with drinks

* Seen some of the local sights, ie. Tower Bridge.
* Thinking how bizzare it is to be walking around a real life monopoly board.

*Stink-a-pong*

Thursday 2nd February saw us leave Australia for 2 days of holidaying in Singapore before our big scary adventure to London. Singaporian's love to eat and shop, actually we think that is all they do. Although we didn't do any shopping we did do lots of eating. Chilli and either Tiger or Carlsberg beer were staple dietary requirements for all meals except breaky and although it sounds really yummy we did not try the fish porridge.

We were fortunate to be in Singapore during the Chinese New Year and the city was buzzing and there were heaps of festivities which we checked out the night of our arrival.

Day one saw us bum a ride on a Bumboat; check out the Merlion (half lion half mermaid mythical creature); take a visit to Sentosa Island and the Night Safari. Sentosa Island has a full days worth of activities however we crammed as much in in a few hours. We stuck around for nightfall for the Magical Musical Fountain which is a water, lights and laser show all put to music. The night safari was very impressive (a must do in Singapore). We saw hippos, rhino's, leopards and elephants to name a few. The animals are really close and don't appear to be in enclosures.

Day two we checked out Orchard Road (oh my gosh so many shops), the Singapore Botanical Gardens and Newton Food court (too early to see those ginormous prawns). We also took a look at Raffles Hotel and sampled a Singapore Sling which cost us $S30 each. It was a shame that the budget didn't stretch to us staying here as it was a beautiful hotel.

Overall Singapore was an awesome stopover for a couple of days and we were really impressed by the friendliness of all the people and the cleaniness of the city.
